Released on March 21, system software update 4.40 also introduces the following features:

The wireless stereo headset (CECHYA-0080 / CECHYA-0086) and the stereo headset (CECHYA-0088) now support PlayStation 2 Classics that have been downloaded from PlayStation Store.
System software stability during use of some features has been improved.

Sony launched the PSN web store in Europe in December (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/382614/sony-launches-psn-web-store-in-europe/) and in the US in January (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/386014/psn-web-store-launching-this-month-in-the-us/). It allows users to purchase content which is then added to their PS3 or Vita download lists, although purchases cannot yet be set to automatically download.
