DigiTimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20130409PD212.html) has reported that production for the iPad 5 will kick off in July-August 2013.
The publications says that sources within the Taiwan-based supply chain makers claim that the new iPad will be thinner and lighter than the fourth-gen one and will adopt the slim bezel design of the iPad mini.
This in in keeping with a report back in January made by Analyst Brian White (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/ipad-5-and-ipad-mini-2-expected-march-2013/029994), although White put the release date as early as last month.
The sources say that yield rates for key components, such as touch panels, will be a ‘major concern for smooth production’.
