New release comes with a host of enhancements and improvements.
Mobile ad network Millennial Media has announced the release of its new SDK for iOS and Android, which features a number of new features and improvements to make it easier for developers to monetise through advertising.
Millennial Media’s SDK 5.0 features a fully updated interface, designed to give developers greater flexibility and reduce the code required for implementation. It also comes with several other updates, including the removal the READ_PHONE_STATE permission for Android.
Furthermore, the new SDK is IAB MRAID 2.0 certified, providing developers with additional revenue potential as advertisers seek MRAID 2.0 compliant solutions for premium rich media campaigns.
Meanwhile, the integration with Facebook, Twitter and the App Store is aimed at delivering a seamless experience and assisting developers in keeping users engaged with their apps. So, when users interact with an ad using this functionality, they will be taken directly to Facebook, Twitter or the App Store to complete the action (“Like,” “Share,” “Tweet,” “Download App,” etc.) They will then be returned immediately to the developer’s app.
Developers can also make money from brand advertising campaigns that use Passbook to send boarding passes, tickets, etc. to the consumer’s device.
Additioanlly, SDK 5.0 does not utilise the UDID on iOS devices. Each Millennial Media iOS SDK released since version 4.5.5 in April of 2012 has been compliant with Apple’s decision to deprecate UDID.
Elsewhere, InMobi yesterday released a new iOS SDK in the form of SDK 370 (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/inmobi-launches-new-non-udid-ios-ads-sdk/021117), following Apple’s announcement that UDID deprecation will be completed by May 1st.
