During the night, The Tech broke news that gunshots were reported at MIT near 32 Vassar Street (http://tech.mit.edu/) (the Ray and Maria Stata Center for Computer, Information, and Intelligence Sciences), and one officer was shot and taken to Mass General Hospital. MIT's Emergency Information page also reports that injuries have been reported (http://emergency.mit.net/emergency/). Sadly, CNN is now reporting that the university police officer has died (http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/18/us/cambridge-gunshots/index.html?hpt=hp_c2). Look for updates on Twitter (https://twitter.com/search/realtime?q=mit)."The two suspects identified earlier (http://yro.slashdot.org/story/13/04/19/0021233/fbi-releases-boston-bombing-suspect-imagesvideos) as being behind the Boston Marathon bombings are believed to be responsible for this. They were found by police. One suspect, 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed in a shootout. The other suspect, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, isstill being pursued (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BIMr61TCAAAMeqe.jpg:large). The Associated Press reports that the two are believed to be from the Russian region near Chechnya (http://rt.com/news/chechnya-suspect-boston-bombing-110/). During the firefight, the suspects threw explosive devices at police (http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/local/boston/10010406204192/1-of-2-mass-bomb-suspects-dead-suburbs-shut-down/). Public transit in Boston has been shut down (http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2013/04/19/closings-boston-area-today/YsqIt0Y7yBRWvTVZW2q2mM/story.html), and hundreds of thousands of people have been asked to not leave their homes. Here are live feed for local TV news (http://www1.whdh.com/video/7newslive) and emergency services audio (http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/6254/web). Police have been warned that the remaining suspect may have a suicide vest.

Reader Okian Warrior points out a related story worthy of notice:"The 4chan crowd, poring over images (http://imgur.com/a/sUrnA) of the Boston marathon, identified two dark-skinned and bag-carrying suspects (http://i.imgur.com/AmMP3z4.jpg) (among others). This was then picked up by The New York Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/18/ny-post-boston-suspects-bag-men-front-page_n_3109052.html?utm_hp_ref=media), who ran the image on Thursday's front page (http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1093643/thumbs/o-NEW-YORK-POST-570.jpg?6) with the headline 'Feds seek these two pictured at Boston Marathon.' And now, a completely innocent (http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_coverage/2013/04/teen_stunned_at_portrayal_as_mass_bombing_suspect) teen now finds himself scared (http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2013/04/18/revere-teen-scared-after-new-york-post-splashes-him-front-page/giJVM9AiOfmnQKEJ2SBS5M/story.html) to leave his home."
