Ye olde Xbox 360 continues to defy its years.
Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division – home of amongst other things its Xbox operations – saw revenues increase 56 per cent year-on-year for the three months ending March 31st, hitting $2.53bn.
The numbers were credited to higher Xbox 360 platform and Windows Phone revenue, with Xbox 360 in particular jumping 55 per cent to $641m.
However, for the nine months ending March 31st Xbox 360 revenue fell 13 per cent to $864m, mainly due to decreased console sales – 8.9m 360 consoles were shipped in the period, down from 11.9m the year before.
The company has also announced that Xbox Live now has 46m members worldwide. That’s an 18 per cent annual increase.
Microsoft’s overall revenue hit $20.49bn.
It was also confirmed that chief financial officer Peter Klein will depart the company at the end of the current financial year.
