Hi all,

The other week I got given a slightly broken psp, the psp itself works no problems, but it won’t play umd disks. The laser won’t light up and it does not move from side to side, or go back to its home position.

I thought it might need a replacement laser. I got my new laser yesterday, and replaced it with the new one, not an easy job to start with, but I managed it.

Now with the new laser in I thought my troubles would be over and I could start playing games. But that’s not going to happen; still the psp won’t play umd's. the laser eye itself now moves up and down, which tells me that power is going to it, but it still does not light it, or move from left to right or reset back to its home position.

Can anyone help or have any suggestions that might fix this problem

many thanks in advance

maybe the new laser is not compatable with the platform or it cant read the umd's. you should probly look into that.

Sounds like the motor? Try sending it in to www.chicagogamewerks.com or something. They do repairs.
