Underwhelming adoption rate could be due to limited launch.
Facebook has around 700 million monthly active mobile users (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/facebook-mobile-ads-account-for-23-per-cent-of-total-q4-ad-revenue/020452), but the company's new Android-based Facebook Home service (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/facebook-introduces-home-its-new-android-based-social-interface/021018) has only been downloaded from Google Play 500,000 times in five days, according to TechCrunch (http://techcrunch.com/2013/04/21/facebook-home-hits-500k-in-five-days-pales-in-comparison-to-instagrams-android-shift/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29)
Budding Home users must have the Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps for the feature to work, but theservice is only available for the newly released HTC First (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/facebook-introduces-home-its-new-android-based-social-interface/021018), as well as the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III and Samsung Galaxy Note II, which could be stunting growth.
Meanwhile, Facebook has confirmed it is in talks with Apple and Microsoft (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/facebook-home-could-head-to-apple-and-microsoft/021106) to launch Home for iOS and Windows, and recently introduced the interface's Chat Heads messaging feature to devices running the iPhone maker's OS.
