The big Nintendo release this week is Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins, available today. A 3DS prequel to the recent Wii U game, early reviews (http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=200791) have praised the portable version's variety of missions, but have also criticized the various (annoying but not game breaking) technical hiccups found in the game. Which makes finding a deal for Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins all the more appealing and/or important, especially if you had your heart set on picking up the game at launch.
Thankfully, many online retailers are happy to oblige. Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins is available for around $30 from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053B5X76/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0053B5X76&linkCode=as2&tag=nokiangagenew-20), Best Buy (http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-4007611-10638425?url=http%3A//www.bestbuy.com/site/LEGO+City+Undercover%3A+The+Chase+Begins+-+Nintendo+3DS/2856741.p?id=1218358272675&skuId=2856741&st=lego%20city%20undercover&lp=3&cp=1), Target (in-store), and others. Whether this can be considered a deal depends on whom you talk to - some retailers are listing $29.99 as the MSRP, some consider it a sale price. Either way, it's definitely better than the 3DS software norm of $40. Toys R Us goes a step further - not only is the game $29.99, you'll also receive 70% off a second game (priced $19.99 or less) with your purchase. You'll require a coupon (PDF link) (http://trus.imageg.net/graphics/media/trus/OI042113_cpns.pdf) if you intend to buy in-store, or use promo code 959912 during online checkout (http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&kw=042113city&origkw=042113city&kwCatId=&view=all&ab=vg_homepage:ASpot:1:70-off-any-1-video-game-priced-19).
Along with offering the 3DS game for $29.96 with free shipping (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053B5X76/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0053B5X76&linkCode=as2&tag=nokiangagenew-20), Amazon is including a free Chase McCain Lego figure with the purchase of Lego City Undercover for Wii U (http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&docId=1001157001&linkCode=ur2&pf_rd_i=B002I0K3PM&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=1533688982&pf_rd_r=1Q0GM00ZZMNDE8YEAJYK&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_t=201&tag=nokiangagenew-20).
With the Lego City Undercover deals out of the way, let's move on to the other sales and promotions of the week! Best Buy is offering Paper Mario: Sticker Star ($19.99 shipped) (http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-4007611-10638425?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2 FPaper%2BMario%253A%2BSticker%2BStar%2B-%2BNintendo%2B3DS%2F5763554.p%3Fid%3D1218691610999 %26skuId%3D5763554) and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror or Fate ($29.99 shipped) (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-4007611-10638425?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2 FCastlevania%253A%2BLords%2Bof%2BShadow%2B-%2BMirror%2Bof%2BFate%2B-%2BNintendo%2B3DS%2F5763563.p%3Fid%3D1218692939086 %26skuId%3D5763563) as part of their "action games" sale (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-4007611-10638425?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2 Fsearchpage.jsp%3F_dyncharset%3DISO-8859-1%26id%3Dpcat17071%26type%3Dpage%26ks%3D960%26st%3 DSelect_Action_Games_106067%26sc%3DGlobal%26cp%3D1 %26sp%3D-bestsellingsort%2Bskuid%26qp%3Dcrootcategoryid%252 3%2523-1%2523%2523-1%7E%7Eq53656c6563745f416374696f6e5f47616d65735f31 3036303637%7E%7Encabcat0700000%2523%25234%2523%252 3j%26list%3Dy%26usc%3DAll%2BCategories%26nrp%3D20% 26iht%3Dn). I imagine Amazon will price match these offers eventually - here's a handy link (http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&field-keywords=B0053BCMAC%7CB002I0H1DY&linkCode=ur2&tag=nokiangagenew-20&url=search-alias%3Daps) if you want to check and see if they've done so. Toys R Us is offering a $15 gift card and free Batman action figure with the purchase of Injustice: Gods Among Us (in-store only with coupon (PDF link) (http://trus.imageg.net/graphics/media/trus/OI042113_cpns.pdf)). Finally, Target is temporarily discounting a number of titles for this week - their ad lists Just Dance 4 (Wii U, Wii) for $29.99 and Call of Duty: Black Ops (Wii U) for $49.99, with others in-store.If you were planning to take advantage of Club Nintendo's 3DS XL promotion (http://club2.nintendo.com/3ds-xl-promo/), this would be the week to do it! Best Buy is taking $10 off 3DS XL systems (http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-4007611-10638425?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2 Fsearchpage.jsp%3F_dyncharset%3DISO-8859-1%26id%3Dpcat17071%26type%3Dpage%26ks%3D960%26st%3 D5720611%252C%2B5720602_%26sc%3DGlobal%26cp%3D1%26 sp%3D%26qp%3Dcrootcategoryid%2523%2523-1%2523%2523-1%7E%7Eq353732303631312c20353732303630325f%7E%7Enc abcat0700000%2523%25231%2523%25232%26list%3Dy%26us c%3DAll%2BCategories%26nrp%3D15%26iht%3Dn), Target is taking $20 off (http://www.target.com/c/consoles-nintendo-3ds-video-games/-/N-5xfnp#?lnk=lnav_shop categories_2), and Toys R Us is throwing in a $20 gift card when you purchase a 3DS XL with either Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. The TRU offer is in-store only, but being so close to Club Nintendo's promo expiration date of April 30th, this is probably for the better - you may want to buy locally to be sure you beat the deadline.
