Activision’s next Call of Duty will be called Call of Duty: Ghosts.
That’s according to a retail listing on Tesco Direct (http://www.tesco.com/direct/call-of-duty-ghosts/554-0536.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=554-0536&sc_cmp=aff_1503186). It could be wrong, of course, but the clearly final product cover image it includes more or less proves its authenticity.
It lists the release date as December 31st – a placeholder, certainly. The game will almost definitely arrive in early November.
The art also named Infinity Ward as the developer. That’s not unexpected, of course – last year’s Black Ops II was a Treyarch title so it’s definitely IW’s ‘turn’. Why the Modern Warfare name has been dropped remains to be seen but could possibly be linked to the out-of-court settlement with former Infinity Ward bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella.
Rumours of the ‘Ghosts’ names were doing the rounds exactly a month ago. Just goes to show that sometimes the whispers are true.
