The original Shantae is on its way to the 3DS Virtual Console at the end of June, developer Wayforward (http://www.wayforward.com/blog/2013/4/26/shantae-on-3ds-virtual-console-update.html) announced. This is the Game Boy Color version ofShantae first launched in 2002 and published by Capcom. Shantae will be available on 3DS eShops in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
A sequel to Shantae, Risky's Revenge (http://www.joystiq.com/game/shantae-riskys-revenge), hit DSiWare in 2010 and iOS in 2011, and Wayforward is currently working on a third installment for the 3DS eShop,Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/06/shantae-and-the-pirates-curse-coming-to-3ds-eshop/). Meanwhile, Wayforward already has its hands full with the remastery of DuckTales (http://www.joystiq.com/game/ducktales-remastered), again working with Capcom.
