How can you make 3D Models from reference pictures in 3DS Max? like front, side pics to model from, abit like the discontinued program by Biovirtual called, 3D MeNow.

this is something i want to get started in, but i cannot find the perfect tutorial on how to make these find of models, htis is something i want to take into consideration:

http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/max/songhyekyo/index.html

he made it using the 'airbrush' look, but the quality and how beautiful it looks, its just speechless, and i couldnt tell that if it was a 3D model made using by 3DS Max. he does go through how its done, but only the final stages in each step. thus i assume that he is an expert using this program and making them and i wonder if anyone can make them as well.

i tend to make one just like out, even using pics of me as a start, with the finest quality producing a photorealistic model of anyone. simple.

i wish to say more, but i really want to know if anyone can help me on this.

i would really appreciate it if anyone can.

not to forget to mention, i have the program, version 7 I believe.

the reason why i asked is because i wanted to make a 1:1 model of Sephiroth in this exact pose, picture and form:

The videos on the page below will demonstrate how to model a beretta pistol from image reference. After watching this i can now model almost anything from an image reference.

i see, may i ask, would you know how to model that model of Sephiroth picture i referenced?

MasterChafed

erm, i could try, it would take a long time though and i may not get it exactly. Waht do you need it for exactly?

i want a 3DS Max model of it exactly like that, because i tend to use it for superimposing into like-action, pictures, and even modeling.

thats only a few reasons why i need it for, just like that in the pic. i didnt really want to ask people help me create one, as i fear i dont want to be wasting their time.

i intend to create it as detailed just like that, in the method as this:

http://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/maya/character/

but that is Maya, and i have 3DS Max, which i assume can do merly the same job.

but again, i would really appreciate it if u can do something just like tht or anyone at all. also i dont know if this is the right place for me to be asking this.

anyone may i ask?

Im sorry, i dont think i have the skills to make a model with that detail. But yes, i use 3ds max as well, and it seems to do the job, and this is off topic forum, so you can ask pretty much anything.

it's possible to place an image on the side of a plane, and create a mesh infront of it... but you cant just extrude a picture to make the image itself. you could try to just model it on 3DS outright, or with it as a refrence texture on a plane behind your model. but you cant really "make" a 3D model from a 2D image automaticly.

@ Jman420, yeah, actually it is possible through a lot of sophisticated algorithms to make a 3d model from a 2d image. And, yeah, ur right, you can place an image on a plane behind your work space, that is how i do it almost every time. Helps to have a lot of different image references.

right, I was considering the suggestion of making a 3D mesh from a Z-plane image, but I dont think it would be easy to make one of those from that picture.

definitely not, theres not enough information, as in, the image is at an odd angle.

thanks captian help's-a-lot....

already stated that it was not possible...

ohh i see.

well i was aware that that it wasnt a good reference pic, i showed it because that is exactly wat i want the model to be like.

i can get clips of the film, and find more posted of that render at better angles.

and as i am a honest person, i am only a beginer in this program, but it is something i really want to be get into.

but if i was to make this model, i would need for it to be made in a professional time and work skills.

i would use this for the front of his body and head:

and maybe this one for the side:

and again, i would really appreciate it if anyone can or would like to volenteer to help me create this model exactly like wat i would want it.

WEll, i was bored so i decided to take a whack at modeling sephiroths sword, and i gotta say, i didnt do too bad, but i could improve on the texturing (this was my first attempt at unwrap uvw mapping :P ) tell me what you think.

edit: just checked and it is only 122 polygons :O Im happy.

MrTeressaBond

ohh, that does look pretty good.

if u want to model the sword at the moment, you could take it from this source as a start:

http://www.trueswords.com/images/prod/c/new_sephiroth_sword_540.jpg

hope that helps. but its the actual character im more interested.

Got bored again, and decided to make a model of Clouds Buster Sword  tell me what u think.

i think that looks good for a start of, cause you technically have everything there, but of course with improvements to make it closer to what the oringal render looks like.

anyone? or do you know anyone who could volenteer to help me create one?

here is my improved buster sword, this time the holes are more rounded and it has a better texture.

What is the difference of Maya and 3d max Studio? Are there are interconnected to each other or an opposing brand? And can I use some of my skills in programming in C++ and java in manipulating them??
