Samsung is looking to phase out from the microSD market as it focuses on embedded memory solutions, reportsDigiTimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20130507PD224.html).
According to industry sources, profits for making microSD cards have shrunk gradually, encouraging Samsung to place more emphasis on embedded memory solutions used in smartphones and tablets.
Samsung is expected to channel its resources into its in-house produced NAND flash, controller ICs and mobile DRAM chips.
This change in direction will follow fellow SD card manufacturers such as Toshiba and SanDisk, who have both stepped into manufacturing embedded memory solutions for mobile devices.
