New app available now from Windows Phone Store.
Windows Phone 8 users will now be able to catch up on BBC shows from the past seven days, as the BBC iPlayer app is now freely available on the Microsoft platform.
The BBC iPlayer app lets users watch BBC content from the past week on their Windows Phone 8 device via Wi-Fi or a 3G connection.
As well as being able browse the latest available content through a variety of filters, users can also flag the shows they watch the most and add them to their Favourites tab.
“The application will enable you to catch up on your favourite BBC shows on the go,” said Dave Price, Head of BBC iPlayer. “We know this is something that is becoming more and more popular as in March this year 30 per cent of overall requests came from mobiles or tablets, with 81 million requests in total.”
BBC radio content will also be available through the app, providing users with the option of listening to the audio whilst using other apps simultaneously.
However, the BBC iPlayer app will not be available to Windows Phone 7.5 users on account of “platform limitations.”
