EA Sports boss Andrew Wilson has confirmed that the Fight Night franchise has been indefinitely placed on hold.

In early 2012 EA's signed a multi-year (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/351203/no-longer-a-joke-ea-snatches-ufc-from-thq/), multi-product deal with UFC, taking over video game duties from previous rights holder THQ. The agreement to transition the rights to EA involved in an undisclosed cash payment to THQ from UFC parent Zuffa.
But Wilson didn't rule out the possibility of Fight Night returning in future. "Do I see a future for Fight Night? You know, sure. But right now, UFC is where our fighting focus is," he said.
EA's upcoming sports titles will be powered by 'Ignite', a brand new engine that the publisher promises will "blur the line between real and virtual".
The firm recently released a pre-rendered trailer (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/408008/ea-sports-ignite-engine-trailer-teases-next-gen-fifa-nfl-nba/) to mark the announcement of the next-generation tech, showcasing snapshots of FIFA, NFL, NBA and UFC.
