http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/06/cryengine3-340_620x340.jpgCrytek has a reputation for pushing the limits of hardware with CryEngine -- witness the will-it-run-Crysis (http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/09/eas-crysis-warhead-pc-can-uh-play-some-game/) jokes -- so it's only logical that the company would leap on new consoles with enthusiasm. Sure enough, the company has followed up talk of Xbox One (http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/21/hands-on-with-xbox-one/) support in CryEngine 3 (http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/10/crysis-3-trailer-with-crytek-cryengine-3/) with word that its extra-pretty engine will also run on thePlayStation 4 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/20/sony-details-playstation-4-specs-8-core-amd-jaguar-cpu-8x-bl/). Crytek isn't saying which developers will use the code, although cross-platform games make sense when the PS4, Xbox One and PCs share the same basic x86 architecture. We may hear bit more about early partners next week (http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/07/nintendo-sony-microsoft-e3-2013/).
