Discs will continue to be a great way to install your games quickly," said the firm.
Ownership of a retail copy of a game will give you the rights to a digitally downloadable copy, allowing for access to your games on any console.
"After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud," says MS. "So, for example, while you are logged in at your friend's house, you can play your games."
Any of your games can be played by anyone on your console without the need for you to be logged in, while access to your games will also be shared by up to 10 members of your family on any Xbox One console.
As MS explains, "Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend's house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time."
Microsoft also today addressed the controversial topic of its used games policies, confirming that there'll be no fee for used game license transfers (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/411438/xbox-one-no-fee-for-used-game-license-transfers/) between friends, but games will only be transferable once.
It also confirmed full details of the console's requirement of an internet connection (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/411441/xbox-one-online-checks-required-once-every-24-hours/) for mandatory online licensing checks at least once every 24 hours.
