Wandria - Tears Of Fate - Update & More Sound Artists Wanted

Il first of all I will start with a update on how development of the game is going.

I have basically put "Dreamchip" on hold indefinatly to work fully on this. So any time i spend coding is on wandria and that has being the case for the last 2 weeks or so now.

The games "Engine" is progressing nicely. This game uses all PSP specific things like GU etc so its being wrote specifically for the PSP platform.

In case you didnt know the game is being coded in "C" not "lua" so the scope and options availible to me are immense.

As for the "Engine", The part that controls "Animation", "Movement", "Collision", "Map/Level Changing" & "Effects" is nearing completion now, with only a few minor things to modify or adjust (just needing a particle engine to finish the effects catagory)

Basically once that part of the engine is complete (Currently 90% done) I can move on to coding the "Character" interaction, which will be very advanced (more details on that later)

After that I can finally start coding the bit im looking forward to doing the most...the "Turn-Based" battle system.

I am planning a lot of special effects and well made system for that too, i have most of it planned already but again i dont want to spoil it by telling you the details as yet.

Now for the request.

I am currently trying to optimise my sound functions and test them to make sure everything is in order, but my sound artist is so swamped with everyday life he isnt as active as i need at this time (he is still on the team just being let do it at his own pace)

So I really need someone who can make/compose original music in midi format (will be converted to xm) so i can test my music functions properly.

Also someone who can make sound effects would be awesome too as the game will need a lot of them.

Rather than last time though, contact me via msn (addy in profile) and show me a sample of your music/sound effects (MUST BE YOUR OWN WORK FROM SCRATCH) and i will decide on adding 2 more sound artists to the team, by judging your work. I think thats the fairest way to do it :)

thank you for reviving my interest in homebrew games. I mean not to sound unappreciative of those other homebrew games people have come out with, but the quality hasn't really been anywhere near commercial, but this game seems to be upping the bar for homebrew quality, can't wait to see the finished product.

I would very much like to help you guys, preferably on the music. I'm a musician trying to experiment with composing different songs, and I'd like to see what you guys think with what i could come up with.

I'm very inspired by Nobuo Uematsu from the Final Fantasy fame. However, I do not have much experience with midi composition :p . Heck, I'm not very well experienced with music theory yet (although I kind of do know the basics), but I can play the piano and play songs by ear or make stuff up by using a variation of chords.

So hopefully I can be helpful enough. I'll try and familiarize myself with a midi program (maybe Anvil Studio) and see if I can plot what I come up with the piano. At the very least, I could maybe give a sample from a recording directly from the midi keyboard (a la mp3).

There's a little mistake in the "n" Japanese katakana character. The name of the game is spelled ワンドリア - チアルズ　イン　フェイト:)
Also, if you're going to change this mistake in the logo, I suggest you change "Tears in fate" to "Tears In Fate". AH! And the topic says "Tears Of Fate". So how are you gonna name it? "Tears In Fate" or "Tears Of Fate". I personally prefer the second one.

I've been looking at doing something different for my next project and composing original music for an adventure/rpg game is something that does appeal to me.

I have worked on numerous other projects including Callisto on the psp, Nanotron, Rael The Redemption (Bor mod) and my most recent work Streets Of Rage Remake

Well, a game of this size and content takes a while to make as you can imagine.

The soonest i can imagine it been out is around 3 months, could well be more though.

It will be worth the wait though ;)

Probably for the best as many peeps on this site (I think unfairly) crucified you for ripping sprites etc for your previous game. Its great though that you’ve moved on since then and are back to churning out some quality homebrew! :D

omg... im telling you programming in c is way hard to make a game with all the effects.... even me since im coding my metroid game in C.. all my engines are being messed up :(
