Sony has applied for certification of two new PlayStation 3 models, suggesting revised versions of its current-gen console are on the way.
The RRA entry (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/415879/sony-certifies-new-ps3-models/rra.go.kr/board/device/view.jsp?app_no=201317100000104283) lists 'CECH-4205B', 'CECH-4205C'. Given the similarity of these two model numbers to that of the recently released PS3 Super Slim (CECH-4000), it's likely that Sony is planning to make small changes under the hood as opposed to a larger redesign.
Sony has said it has no current plans to introduce a PS3 price cut (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/415299/sony-exec-says-no-ps3-price-cut-planned/), despite the fact that the PS4 will be available this Christmas for £349 / €399 / $399.

"The PlayStation 3 is a system where it hasn't been particularly easy to get the costs down.
"We continue to look at opportunities, there may or may not be any more, I genuinely can't answer to that," he added.
"But it will certainly be a more keenly priced machine in relative to PlayStation 4. It will sit there as a viable entry level machine for years to come. It will be different by territory as to how long its life is. There's still a lot of love for PS3."
Sony has a number of first-party titles in the pipeline. Following the recent release of the critically acclaimed The Last of Us (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/playstation-3/games/12536/the-last-of-us/) is Gran Turismo 6 (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/playstation-3/racing-driving/11877/gran-turismo-6/) and Beyond: Two Souls (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/playstation-3/games/12741/beyond-two-souls/).
