Just yesterday while hanging out at the local GameStop, we were wondering how Microsoft would be handling data transfer between the old 20GB drive and the new 120GB drive in the Black 360, and now Ben from Ars Technica may have stumbled upon the answer. He received an anonymous tip from someone claiming to work for a large game distributor.

MS disclosed this SKU to us a few weeks ago--definitely not a fake story. Price, features, color are all correct. MS has told us that the data will be transferred via some sort of cable that will be included with the unit. The cable will also be included w/ the 120GB drive that will be sold separately (price TBD).

While only an unconfirmed rumor, I'd say this is as close to a sure thing as rumor can get. Microsoft would be daft to sell an upgraded hard drive with no way to move your old data over. A transfer cable makes perfect sense here. It's pretty much that or transferring data via the pricey 360 memory cards, and Microsoft would never make users spend extra money *cough* Xbox DVD dongle *cough* to facilitate functionality that should by all rights be included in the price.
