Microsoft teams up with Japanese mobile game developer Klab.
Xbox and PC games could soon be making their way to a smartphone near you, with fan-favourite Ages of Empires rumoured to be available on mobile devices by the end of the year, according to reports from MarketWatch.
Titles to be converted will be available on iOS platforms and Google Android operating systems.
Microsoft's (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/video-microsoft-takes-pot-shots-at-ipad-and-siri-with-new-ad/021441) library of games reaches into the hundreds and further titles in addition to Ages of Empires are thought to be in the pipeline.
The move could indicate a significant change in the console and mobile gaming industry, as instead of battling the mobile game phenomenon, Microsoft is embracing it. This could be because it also has its finger firmly on the pulse of the smartphone world, as well as console/desktop games.
However, it could still prove to be detrimental to game sales for those platforms, which create a large percentage of their revenue.
Maybe companies such as Nintendo (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/nintendo-boss-is-resolute-no-ios-games/015537), who appears to have been left further and further behind, should bite the bullet and release their own smartphone. They could call it the NinPhonedo, or WiiPhone...
