Sony has updated the PSP firmware to version 3.30, which enhances the handheld's PlayStation Network functionality, boosting its support for future PSone games released over the network.

Enhancements also include the option to set the load speeds for PSone games, which can be downloaded via the PS3 onto your PSP, allowing you to speed up loading times, although increasing the speed can cause problems with some games.

The maximum resolution of video files that the PSP can play has also been upped, as well as the ability to display thumbnails for videos stored in the PSPs video folder. The new firmware will also support thumbnails for items in the RSS section.

This is nice and all and I can't wait for 3.30 OE-A but why hasn't anyone noticed that it just jumped from 3.11-3.30, what happened to 3.20?

Maybe Sony needs help counting.

I was expecting Sony would have put their new firmware update number at 3.20 too, chosing to mark it as 3.30 instead seems rather strange....

they prolly did lots of testing and decided that 3.30 would be best.

Hopefully, they'll add in multiplayer support for PS1 games. Unless there's already multiplayer support and I just completely missed it.

and ff8

It would really help if i could draw use magic, recover and revive commands without freezing the game. Espesially since bahaumut has uses mega flare like a b***h and i can't kill him without reviving at least once.

xD they put it at 3.30 cause every number before that would have got owned by DAX so they thought they might as well put the highest number that they predict will scare DAX :P

Or maybe they just chose 3.30 so you guys would come up with those stupid conclusions. What's DAX up to nowadays?

Loading times will be shorter on PSX games?! Cool...I think this calls for a faster Popstation, then...with the possibility to load sectors in games such as FF8 and Resident Evil 2 and 3 that have been struggling on previous firmwares... I HOPE!

DAX is probably locked inside his room right now with a "Do NOT F'n Disturb ME!!" tag on the door handle.

Once again....IT'S A RACE!!!

It's not exactly the first time they've made a jump in version numbers. 1.51 to 2.0 and 2.82 to 3.0? My guess would be they're aiming to make 3.5 or 4.0 a milestone and are setting their targets for it, so they decided to jump one so they should reach their target on time.
