Guys, I'm going to just return my psp since I found that my warranty is still good for a new one. But I dont think theres a way to tell if I'm going to get a TA-082, is there a way to tell, or can it be numbered down to probability?
EDIT: Well heres the update. I got a new psp from Sony, the good news is it runs 2.71, the bad news is its TA-082. Bah, if this becomes to much of a problem I'm gonna sell mine to gamestop to get a used one.

value packs are a bit more likely to have lower firmwares, but i have no idea about TA-082 or 86.
don't be surprised if you get an 82 or 86 mobo because those are tipically the only ones still for sale.

Mostly near where it says the letter of the firmware it will say PSP-1001 for a non-ta-082 mobo and PSP-1003 for a real ta-082.
