BioWare has licensed the StreamBase technology for its upcoming yet-to-be-revealed MMO, which is in development at its Austin studio.

Apparently Streambase will allow BioWare to make fixes to the game world in real-time and react quickly to naughty exploitative players.

The tech has traditionally been provided for "processing and analyzing real-time streaming data" to telecom and financial companies, but with the online gaming boom StreamBase apparently fancies its chances in the gaming sector as well.

"After we evaluated the StreamBase CEP software, we quickly realized that partnering with them would cut our server development costs by multiple man years," said BioWare technical director Bill Dalton. "Therefore, partnering with StreamBase was clearly the right choice to deliver on budget and on time."

There are currently no announced details on the MMO, though company veteran James Ohlen - previously lead designer on Baldur's Gate and KoTOR - is known to be at the helm, which has us very excited.
