Slapped with Japan's equivalent of ESRB's "Mature" rating, the Chuuka na Janshi Tenho Painyan: Remix is not a sex game. I repeat, THIS IS NOT A SEX GAME. Rather, it is intended for Japanese players over the age of 15. The game is a portable take on the PS2 incarnation, and the characters were created by famous character designer Kenichi Sonoda. The portable versions go on sale in late June, and like I said, this is not a sex game. Haven't played the original, and I imagine its fairly standard stuff for mah-jong games. Still, don't be surprised if you can use the touch pen in novel ways.

Yes, I can already say I'll be looking to import the DS version of the game due to the controversy it might raise alone, before even considering the possible sexual background of the game.

As a 'Games Student', I can only congratulate companies on making a proper move in this direction after the news of a Hizashi no Naka port for DS (which was proved false)

Games consoles and the games themselves have been targeted towards both children and adults, but mostly children. Nintendo's example - turning the Gameboy into the DS (changing the name from a kiddy name to an adult-sounding name).

he Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube, although having had their fair share of cuddly, fluffy games; we have seen some damn-right violent and adult videogames as of late. The Suffering, Silent Hill, Mortal Kombat series... (What, two Midway titles?)

This, and potential other games like it could broaden the industry and bring adult gamers forward -- but it also brings in the element of games you'd be embarrassed to own or say you like. Instead of it being an adult who is embarrassed when somebody finds out he likes "Hello Kitty Roller Rescue" (or whatever the hell it's called), is a completely different scenario of embarrassment to an adult whose taste in 'dodgy hentai majong' is surfaced.

This title might not get a release outside Japan (especially in America due to the game's potential 'lolicontent' (tm). It'll be interesting to see how critics take this, especially as a video games student - I might study this game ;) ...
