Firm warns that details may have been stolen.
Cyber criminals attempted to raid the official iOS developer website on Thursday, which has resulted in Apple temporarily taking the site offline.
Seemingly the attack was so big that Apple has been forced to warn developers that names and addresses may have been snatched.
The company claims to be working around the clock to resolve the issue, which tarnishes the App Store recently celebrating its five-year anniversary. (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/by-the-numbers-apple-app-store-celebrates-five-year-anniversary/021865)
Apple issued a statement that said: "Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed.
"In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologise for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon.
"If your program membership was set to expire during this period, it has been extended and your app will remain on the App Store. If you have any other concerns about your account, please contact us."
