Hi every one I'm new in the forum and to all the great PSP stuff, I just learn how to downgrade from 3.71 to 3.71 M33-2.I don't know if this is the best CFW and thats is why I came here so you guys can help me.:D

My next Goals are this:
1.Use my PSP as a GPS using the PSP-290
2.Play download games
3.Furikup - PSP SIP Phone

PLEASE guide me on how can I accomplish this goals.

Hi does anyone know if you can download a number of maps and join them together?

This is because if I download one Large map it take forever or timeout?

I'm trying to download the whole of NSW Australia, and removing the 1x to make the file a bit smaller.....

why not just set custom zoom range and skip downloading 1x zoom?
Also, you should be able to continue an interrupted download and correct the errors... just play with the program's options..

I have a question, How can I download POIs with Virtual Earth? Coordinates in it don't work ? Can I used them with Virtual Earth ?

i'm having trouble adding POI's using GMDL tool. whenever i zoom in the area I want and then hit get numbers, then enter a search query, then list, I always reach the limit (~990). I opened one that reached the limit in mapthis and it shows POI's WAY outside of the area I zoomed into. I'm assuming there's something wrong with the long/lat number or deltas.

how can i fix this?

I'm sorry, I feel like such a douche asking this, but I can't get my PSP phat to work with my 290-GPS. I've been trying to follow everything in these threads, but all the information seems old. There are old versions of the software, then I read that newer versions don't need the PRX files, but the files aren't located in my flash0. I'm at a loss because I can't get the damn thing to work and I'm leaving on a trip in a few days to a place I've never been and this is supposed to be my guide. If someone could give me some updated instructions of how to get the PSP-290 GPS to work on firmware 3.90-2 M33, I would REALLY appreaciate it! (I've already got the software installed, but all is says is GPS STATE OFF and it never picks up a signal..)

u could try to put the mapviewer folder inside PSP:\GAME folder. Worked for me.

Previously when i put it inside GAME150 folder, my GPS receiver was always OFF. Now its ON after i put it inside the PSP:\GAME folder.

OK i need help! I have no idea what im doing. well i did get mapthis on my psp and everything and i got maps on it and stuff, but i cant run it because i dont have the right firmware. At the moment i have fw 3.90. Whats the best firmware to get to run mapthis and whats the best way to install it, and i dont get what kernal is when ppl talk about it. There are plenty of tutorials out there for installing custom firmware (from www.dark-alex.org).

quick question... I have read 12 pages of this thread... but wasn't too sure if anybody have asked this question...

I have a map of Toronto.
I have a gps-290.
My Gps state is ON.
Able to grab to a few sattellites..

But it's unsually unstable at times...

There are times when I get good signals and there are times where I've been driving for 30 minutes then I'll finally lock in.

also... How much sattellites do I need to be able to lock-in accurately.

or is it just the way it is...

please somebody let me know..

The wikibook has some info on why your location isn't always accurate. You need at least 3 satellites to get your location.

Thats the reason, don`t drive while you are trying to get a fix. You`ll get a much faster lock if you are not driving.

hey all. been suffering through the forums, havent found what im looking for. has anyone put up a website with a compilation of maps, in folders, for download? im sure the idea has come up, it being a HUGE waste of time reproducing the same maps on an individual basis over and over again which would all be identical copies. except for poi i guess. anyways, anyone know where a site like this exists??? thanks in advance!

This idea has come up, it's illegal. You're not allowed to redistribute maps.

its illegal!? how is that possible? than me simply going to google maps would be illegal... thus the site itself is illegal. yet it is still there. why is it illegal? the site lets you do the obvius searchs, calculate distance, etc etc, even print to physical media... ie paper to take with you as a portable solution of the maps themself. and so im guessing the argument is that one cannot keep the media as digital on their pc? yet, i can simply go into my cache or history and obtain the files i have aquired at any time i please if i am not online. the data has already been transmitted to my pc. maybe its cause im a linux user and windows doesnt have that ability, not sure, but i still have it none the less and it was designed that way so whats the difference!? thoroughly confused...... :( please let me know, i am VERY curious as to why this would be illegal and what documentation sprts this. o yah sry about the double post, wasent sure which topic would be more appropriate. argh... so confused.... if a site were put up with all the maps and locations by users of the program it would be an all inclusive, worldwide, gps solution.... and less hours focused on redoing already done work, and more hours focused on development.... so confused... lol. please let me know, thanks! :)

Downloading isn't illegal, you can download all the maps you want. That's what http://maps.google.com/ does also. However, you're not allowed to upload them to someone else, to redistribute them. I can't just put all those maps on my server and have other people download them.

Also, according to Google Maps API terms, "You agree that when using the Service, You will not: ... download any file posted by another that You know, or reasonably should know, that cannot be legally distributed in such manner;"

If I recall correctly, the latest versions of gmdl allow re-download/correction of the maps.. just check the options...

you are right, I read that on the updates of the new version of GMDL...

but unfortunately, i already deleted the file... oh wells... seems that satellite images takes longer to download...

an educated guess, i'm assuming you are Deniska the one who created MAP THIS?!:)

ok this is weird.... I have managed to download a 512 x 512.... of a regular map.. which was from google.....

now I tried following exactly what it said to download the MS Hybrid (because I wanted to get something 3D like.. which actually looks nice..)

and for the 5th time......... I don't get anything...
I only get those folders for the zoom levels... I do not get the GPSP files..... what is going on? and yes, the GMDL reaches 100%

I did tried resume as the folder in the end of it all gives me that NOTEPAD title (resume)... I followed the procedures and nothing happens.. I just get an error.... what is up?!?! :confused::confused:

I actually got the gosget bu-358 usb gps mouse to work with mapthis, and from what i have discovered you should likely be able to get just about any gps modual to work with it. If you are interested in getting this one or any others to work with it just post here or pm me and I should be able to point you in the right direction. also, for everyone asking for help I think it should be doelly noted the spectacular work from deniska, and all that have devoted so much time to this project including the GMDL program, without these type we wouldn't even have these awesome homebrew progies.........I bow to you all...............

It should turn on as soon as you insert the receiver in.I have the same problem with a Phat.The GPS works with the Slim,but stays off in the Phat.It is something I have been trying to solve for a while now,but with no luck...

ya... i im on a few different site but manly this one and qj.net forums and i keep heering same thing and its not getting the gps to start working... mapthis and maps work like a charm but no gps resiever. maby it has something to do with mother bored... mine is a psp 1001; TA-081... u?

Mine is TA-82.It seems it is something very small.The USB works,the GPS works,but it just won't recognize it...

I doubt that.I downgraded and reinstalled the firmware a lot of times.

I am not able to get excat map i want to download, when i search the map and show both locations in the map but when i click preview its getting very little of the map i selcted.
My search si only 10kms that means a small part in dublin city.

will this version in the guide work for a cfw 5.00m33-6 I am having a heck of a time trying to figure how to make a map.. they just wont simply read when I put them in psp.. i tried so many different zoom lvl and different maps (Ie: google/msn/etc)

make sure you're clicking the preview 1x button, not the preview tab

I can't seem to get a 1x zoom level. I don't get the names of all the side streets on screen.

I'm in Melbourne Australia and I'm trying to make a map of the whole city. Before hitting the final download button on GMDL, it claims up at the top-left of the window that the download will be ~3.5GB, but ends up being only 13MB. Is GMDL abandoning the 1x level due to the potential file size? Should I use something other than Google Maps to get that extra zoom?

Ok, I think I worked it out. I'm now using gmdl0.5.13a whereas I was using gmdl0.5.12b before. I'm not sure if that's the reason it's working now due to a variation in my approach. I zoomed out one extra notch and de-selected more of the surrounding areas. I'm still in the process of downloading the results, but it looks like it will end up being 1.7gb in size. Certainly, this will have more detail than my 13mb map!
