From August 1st onwards, Google Sync will only work on a given Windows Phone if it's already configured. The GDR 2 upgrade (http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/21/refresh-roundup/)keeps syncing alive through CalDAV and CardDAV support (http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/15/google-caldav-support-still-coming-to-windows-phone/), although many users could go without that support for some time -- to date, Americans can only see the OS refresh on the HTC 8XT (http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/09/htc-8xt-sprint/), Lumia 520 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/26/nokia-lumia-520-review/), Lumia 925 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/15/nokia-lumia-925-review/) and Lumia 1020 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/24/nokia-lumia-1020-review/). If you're not in that group and miss the Google Sync deadline, you'll just have to sit tight while Microsoft finishes rolling out the GDR 2 update this summer.
