Awesome question! Since theres only two, and the non dark_alex one is stupid, i really can't decide

to tell u the truth 3.03 oe-c is real good for newcomer and noobz to the custom world. There isnt alot of coverting to do for topmenus and icons(although work is still required). its a very easy noob friendly firware

i myslef tho like 3.30 oe-a'

I agree with Tricky0, 3.03oe-c is probobly the most easy to use, with the least problems in it, i would recommend it to newcomers.

yea i myself enjoy 3.03 oe, the only way ill update right now is when dark_alex releases the plugin to run previous firmwire emulators, and thats about it

I've been using them since 3.02 OE-B and I think the newest (3.40 OE-A) is the best.

With all of the Video, PSX, and commercial PSP game possibilites, 3.40 OE-A is sure to please.

I've never cared about custom icons and themes but it seems 3.40 OE-A can do that too.

Also, it runs all homebrew. I have not run into any problems yet. It seems to truly be the "daywalker" of firmwares.

I have used almost all of the OE firmwares and I never had any problems with 3.03 OE-C. Even though I am now on 3.40 OE-A, I still recommend 3.03 oe-c because it has nearly all of the features of any other firmware higher than it...and recently, each firmware has had their own weird problem. Ex: 3.10- couldn't use topmenu until recently, 3.30- old topmenu won't work unless you convert it

3.40 OE-A
everything works fine for me

got a custom theme and everything :D

also the new games require higher firmwares now
like the jap demo that came out today required 3.40

3.40 OE.
I don't care about custom stuff because I don't look at the xmb for more than a minute at a time.

3.30 Oe-a and 3.40 oe-a

3.03 is best. The emulation for FFVII works and doesn't freeze unlike 3.30/3.40.

I am using 3.10OE because it can load pops up to 3.10OE
I won’t upgrade until I can play psp games that will only run on 3.02 and 3.03
Even though 3.10OE can now have complete custom themes I don’t use them.
I have not had one problem with 3.10OE.
My PSP has never crashed running 3.10OE coming out of sleep mode... or any other time.

3.40 OE-A has more option settings for PS One games and that's enough reason for me to switch.
such as Player one and player two controller selecting, game volume adjust, ISO disc load speed settings.

id say 3.40 but ive only used 1.5 and 3.10OE (had 3.30 but a day later upgraded)but 3.40 can still have a custom XMB, its a higher firmaware, it has devhook and psx emu built in and ive had no problems so far so i think i will stick to 3.40

3.03 OE-B works for me as I don't get much time now to play around with the newer 3.xx oe's due to work and family responsibilities.

I try and keep on top of the update list. I can care less about themes, due to past expereinces. Plus, 3.40 and 3.30 oe's stop some of the memory from leaking. So, i'm with 3.40 OE a

Great to hear that this game plays now. What is the best way to overcome the transition from disc 1 to disc 2.

I know you will have to give each disc the same ID number, but I don't think this game prompts you to save at the end of disc 1.

GTA Cheatdevice PRX (http://www.cheatdevice.com) only works on 3.03 OE-C. I don't play GTA on PSP anymore, so I updated to 3.40 OE-A.

customisation is awful not all the icons show up on your psp

i think this thread has missed its goal. it should compare Dark_Alex's OE and becus25 IE's firmware

i have not tried becus IE firmware because i do not pay much attention to my psp anymore (weather is too good). but its the difference between those 2 firmwares which should have been discussed

NB: for DAX' OE firmware, latest version (ie. 3.40) is always the best version as it will support all futur games. (who cares about those crappy made XMB's - you will never beat the quality of the XMB by SCE made)

totally
I'm still on 303 OE b and with pops loader emulate 302 popstation that increase psx compatibility ( FF7 is Perfect :D :D )
plus CwCheat a go go
that's all I need for all my psx games & homebrew :D

i needed the built-in overclocking ability of 3.10 oe-a due to my fear of most plugins, and its bonus of playstation emulation features were quite an unexpected plus (new zoom levels and button configurations over 3.03 oe). finally fooled around with some full screen avc movies (also first allowed in 3.10 oe-a, i believe), and they look brilliant!

3.03 OE-C is The best because of customisation!, yeah i know you can do it on all the rest but 3.03 OE-C is Better

I'm back on 3.03 OE-C because I managed to get the PSP's GPS up and running on it. I know it works under other firmware and i'm sure I could do it now that I have worked it out but theres not really much need.
I think that all of the newer firmwares are fantastic and easy to install on either upgrade or downgrade. If there was something I needed on a later firmware then it takes just 5mins to sort out.

3.10oe for me. I'm not too concerned with customizing that isn't really an issue. However, since I play alot of ps1 games, the popsloader plug-in is very, very handy for the more awkward ps1 games.

Given that 3.30 and 3.40 break certain games without the option of using popsloader, I'm sticking with 3.10 for the time being.

That said, if a popsloader did come out for 3.40 then I'd probably upgrade as thats the only thing thats holding me back from upgrading.

At the moment the extra features that newer firmwares have are not really something I'd get much use out of. Its just a case of weighing up the pro's and con's and the benefits of upgrading and deciding whats best for you.

Personally, I like my new 3.40 oe-a PSP, but I'd have to say 3.10 OE-A' is the best because it had the best plugins for the recovery menu. [ i.e.) Pikey, which has not been proven to work on 3.40 so I'm not comfortable with flashing it.]

mike_jmg
April 28th, 2007, 20:28
I think this is probably an issue of personal needs

If you like customization you use 3.03 OE-C

If you play a lot of ps1 3.10 OE-A with the pops plugin and stuff

In my case I like having the latest custom firmware, hoping the ps1 games I have don´t crash anymore, lol

Also, when the new God of war comes out, surely is going to use sony´s latest upgrade

So for me is 3.40 OE, cause i got a custom topmenu, and custom gameboot that looks great on the latest OE (LOL)

3.40oe, the fast disc-load option in popstation, added stability, able play the latest actual psp games, and customizable icons ftw.

3.10oe-a' is still a good choice due to the backwards compatibility popsloader (mainly for FFVII)

i downloaded a 3.30 customizable XMB pack.

so i always keep my 3.40 OE A psp looking good.

as far as user feedback goes.

i am a HOMEBREW player, and in 3.40 i get the least problems, in 3.30 the system constantly crashed. i recommend 3.40, and if ya wanna customize, just search for 3.30 RCO's
