It's being suggested that peer-to-peer file sharing will be included in the feature set of Sony's online platform PS3 Home.

SonyProtectionGroup.com claims to have received information from a source on Sony's developing a P2P file sharing network "that will allow users to seamlessly watch and share movies."

The site adds how the network operates is that a user downloads a chosen file and the movie will then start playing automatically.

But it's all rumour of course, and the site labels it as such. Sony's European arms had not got back to us on our query regards the rumour at the time of writing.

Sony has begun the internal beat testing of Home and it'll be open to the public shortly. Just in case you don't know, Home is a customisable online community service that lets users create avatars, interact with other Home-ians, customise an assigned apartment, show media stored on your PS3 hard drive and display 3D trophies unlocked through in-game milestones in PS3 games.

As yet there's no official word on dates for an open beta, but previous information on Home coming to light has suggested such will kick off between August and October. The full version of Home, which will be a free download, is expected to hit in October 2007.

This is not like Kazaa or limewire. I'm assuming it'll be shared videos and music from your VIDEO and MUSIC folders on the PS3. Also official downloads from Sony could be distributed through P2P.

Most likely protected content sold over the store will not use the feature. Also people abusing teh system can be banned...
