Today's your lucky day. Google just posted thefactory image (http://www.engadget.com/tag/factoryimage/) and binaries (http://www.engadget.com/tag/binaries/) for its second generation 7-inch tablet -- also known by theproduct name "razor" (http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/23/second-generation-nexus-7-razor-benchmarks-specs/) and device name "flo". The factory image lets you restore your new Nexus 7 to the exact software it shipped with in case you grow tired of that custom ROM (http://www.engadget.com/tag/cyanogenmod/) you cooked up using the binaries (natch). Speaking of which, the packages include drivers for audio and sensors from ASUS (http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/), NFC from Broadcom (http://www.engadget.com/tag/Broadcom/) plus graphics and everything-but-the-kitchen-sink from Qualcomm (http://www.engadget.com/tag/Qualcomm/). This comes mere hours after some open source drama (http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/07/aosp-maintenance-head-leaves-role-in-wake-of-open-source-issues/) surrounding the binaries (which now appears to be resolved) and with plenty of time to spare for UK customers (http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/08/nexus-7-uk/). Follow the source links below andhave fun hacking (http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/09/users-report-new-nexus-7-suffering-from-gps-issues/) this weekend.
