It seems work has began on an XMB replacement mod, by coder Festero . It will even support custom themes. (The Windows theme is pictured above)

XMB Project Beta 1a has been officially released.

This version is in Eboot form (doesn't need to be flashed)

its very much a beta, wtf i launched photo thingy and nothin came up, had to restart psp and wouldnt boot back up till i went into recovery mode

There was a simliar thing released a few months ago this could be the same thig. It isnt really an XMB replacement its more a shell I think. Kinda like IRshell

These look nice and all but what's the point if D_A's firmware always wipes it out and then, when you try to apply these on the new fw, there's a chance of bricking? Unless there's a more permanent way of doing this, I'm staying away from them.

it just appears to be bricked which is weird, but yes this is very much a beta so dont expect too much.
