MapThis0499_beta - featuring localization, basic sound, etc...

This is a Map Software for the PSP and PSP GPS adapter .

This beta build features:

- basic localization sñpport (read and write in your own language!!)
- basic sound (currently just key beeps and "Speed warning" message if preset speed limit is exceeded
- improvements in geo search logic, allowing more relaxed search

Installation:
make sure that you:
-install PSP-290 (http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-2pz-71-bh-49-en-84-j-70-1mij.html) version in /PSP/GAME3XX folder (depending on your OE FW version)
-install Holux version in /PSP/GAME150 folder

You folders must have following structure:
/PSP/GAMExx/
mapViewer/
EBOOT.PBP (get appropriate version)
usbacc.prx (psp-290 only (http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-2pz-71-bh-49-en-84-j-70-1mij.html))
usbgps.prx (psp-290 only (http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-2pz-71-bh-49-en-84-j-70-1mij.html))
system/
maps/

I provided a sample language pack as an example (perhaps someone could do a better translation of the labels?)
To install bundled russian_language_pack, copy the contents of russian_language_pack folder in to system folder

To create you own language pack, you need to edit the files in the russian_language_pack folder.
make sure you define your character set in localization.txt and then create corresponding images for your new sets and danzeff keyboards.

I hope this isnt too hard to set up like you have posted? My 290 is in the post so i will try this on da wkend.

Im on 340oe but would people advise going back to 303oe to get this all to work?

I havent got my gps yet but ive already had a go at making maps from google maps... unfottunetly i havent been very sucessful yet. lol

I think we need an uber noob friendly instalation guide for this (for each specific oe firmware), plus a muppets guide to creating maps! :)

Try to test these cards with PSXReality tester (http://dl.qj.net/index.php?pg=12&fid=12184&catid=151) and let us know the results...
Edit : Baboon try this so because the original Sony MS are worst :-(
Now I use an 1 GO SanDisk MS and with an 4 GO SanDisk MS I had no problem.

After finaly getting a version of mapthis to boot up on my 3.40oe I now also have a similar problem.

On my 4gb sandisk card (which ive tested and is an original and is magicgate supported) it also hangs when loading any map. The two maps ive tried are the test ones that come supplied with mapthis. :(

Ive got a 512mb card at home so i guess i'll try it out later tonight to see if that works with mapthis???

Hi, I am using 3.30 OEA and when I put it (mapviewer) in the folder Game300 and tried to run the program it said it's error??? can someone help please.
Also I notice program that put in my game folder has sth like mapviewer% ... is it like I need that one in Game300 folder?? if so where to d/l it?

Been trying for 3 days now and still no luck :(

Im running 3.10 OE-A & using the PSP290GPS. Tried several different mapviewers, currently using 0.499 Ive gotton MapViewer to work fine , loads up the map I want. The GPS shows as on. However I cannot pick up any satelites or show any signal. (EDIT) I can now view satelites but cannot get a fix on any).
The GPStest program does not seem to pick up on anything either, even though it loads up fine and shows as gps on. Ive tried combinations of the PRX files :
usbaac 2.71 usbgps 2.71
usbaac 2.71 usbgps 3.03
usbaac 3.03 usbgps 3.03
usbaac 3.10 usbgps 3.10
usbaac 2.71 usbgps 3.10

only combination that actualy seems to load up the program properly is aac2.71 & gps2.71.
Mapviewer is in folder GAME310, and kernal is 3.10.

A few days ago I did not even know the first thing about psp's.. but its been 3 days of solid forum reading and trial n error! im going nuts thou :(

Edit: also add, ive tried the usbhostfix too.

If anyone can reccomend any more things I can try to get it to work please let me know. thank you.

( btw im in London, and tried this out in the open on a clear day).

Finally get it work!! The only thing I can say is "wow great job"!!

Now it can fix in 4 minutes and sometimes 40 sec.

This is the problem I got before.
GPS State: off
I go to google and find a program "keycleaner" for psp. Use "fix without memory stick" to fix the psp key. After that the GPS State: on. If you have same problem try it.

My System:
TA-82: 2.71 --> 3.10OEa2 --> 3.03OEc --> 3.03OEb
psp-290Made in China(I can not find made in Japan)
usbacc(271).prx
usbgps(maplus).prx
Location: TN, USA (SAT find: max:11, min:5, avg:8)

mapthis.461 in 3.10OEa2 usually get freeze when map zoom in and zoom out. After I change to 3.03OEc, no problem but GPS: off. Than I change to 3.03OEb and findout there is a mapthis.499, still GPS:off. At last, use keycleaner. Everything work ver well.

Neither of the FAQs mention how the get it working without the gps unit. I think that should be updated in there. Wikibooks entry mentions that mapthis can be used as a simple mapviewer but doesn't specify how. The actual info is buried somewhere in those 50+ page threads, which took me quite a while to read.

The help for this application is scattered all over the place and effort should be put into lowering the entry level, as this is a great application. The wikibook entry is a great start, but perhaps more info about prx's, for example, is appropriate. I'll try to help there as I get more comfortable with the application. Same goes for the GMDL-application.

Anyway, for reference (going to update the wikibook later): If you want to use mapthis application as a simple mapviewer, without a gps unit, you must use the holux/generic version of mapthis, which is included in the package. You don't need any prx's.

Strangely when I select max zoom it hangs while loading half the image, and PSP turns off...
I'm Using Sandisk4gbGaming, checked map files with latest gmdl and are all ok.
What could it be the problem now?!

EDIT: it hangs randomly when I change zoom level.
