The Nvidia Shield has gotten off to a strong start, according to Nvidia execs.
Despite a slight delay (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/420002/nvidia-shield-gets-new-confirmed-release-date/) and last-minute changes to the device's controversial launch price (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/415619/nvidia-cuts-shield-price-confirms-launch-date/), Nvidia's senior director of investor relations Chris Evenden says the portable is doing well at retail.

"Everything that we shipped so far has sold out and - but we're just starting to ramp production," he claimed.
"We've shipped out to our partners only several thousand units, and so it's still quite early to tell. But we're expecting to do quite well with Shield."
The device was released on July 31, and offers higher-end Android performance in a dedicated portable gaming platform.
Powered by an Android Tegra 4 processor, Shield features a five-inch retina-display touchscreen and can play full games directly from a PC (provided the host PC uses a GeForce GTX 650 card or higher).
Nvidia reported $977.2 million in revenues for Q2 2013 ended July 28, and net income of $96.4 million, both down slightly from last year.
Nvidia CEO and co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang said the firm is looking forward to string performance going forwards "with new Tegra 4 devices coming to market, SHIELD moving beyond the U.S. and broader sampling of Project Logan (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/420768/nvidia-claims-mobiles-will-outpace-ps3-in-2014-with-new-gpu/), our next-generation Tegra processor, which brings Kepler, the world's most advanced GPU, to mobile."
