Apple and Samsung are both allegedly planning to release tablets with 12-inch or larger displays.
Sources from the upstream supply chain told DigiTimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20130812PD210.html) that the vendors are attempting to create a new market segment in a bid to move away from competition from small-size devices.
The sources say that Samsung is attempting to compete with the notebook industry with a range of bigger sized tablets.
Apple is expected to release a number of new devices on September 10th (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/new-apple-iphones-to-be-unveiled-on-september-10th/031611), and while it is unlikely that we’ll see a 12-inch+ iPad next month, maybe 2014 will be the year the firm looks towards even bigger displays for its mobile devices.
