Guyfawkes posted this news over at emuholic:

Welcome to GBAX2007, the biggest handheld coding competition on earth, joint run by http://www.gp2x.co.uk and http://www.emuholic.com/. This is our 5th year and we hope it will be the biggest ever! During the last 5 years we have given away thousands of dollars in prizes, have had over 200 entries submitted, some of which went on to become commercial games, others to be developed into excellent free software.

Prizes are:
1st place - A next-gen handheld of your choice (GP2X, PSP or DS) + $250 + accessories
2nd place - A next-gen handheld of your choice (GP2X, PSP or DS) + $100 + accessories
3rd place - A next-gen handheld of your choice (GP2X, PSP or DS) + accessories

And of course you all get tens of thousands of people trying your software, including people from the industry, magazines, online websites and more. If you are looking for a job in the games industry this is the place to show your work. Whether you are planning to enter or are just browsing we are sure you will enjoy the competition and testing out the entries in July.

GBAX2007: May 7th - July 7th.

Good luck to all

I don't remember them being picky about the language. They have had Fenix entries in previous competitions.

from the rules on http://www.gbax.com/2007/

- If you are using a scripting language such as LUA please ensure all files are included to be able to run your entry.

so yes it is allowed

To confirm, any language is fine providing anything necessary to run your entry is included such as the fenix runtime, python files etc.

In the case of a game that requires a data file, say for example Doom, you can include a shareware WAD file if you wish to.

does the entry have to have been begun after the start of the competition, or will a still unreleased hombrew that has been slowly worked on able to be used?

Either before or during the compo is fine, I know some people have been working on projects off and on over a longer period of time.

I am entering one compo on the 1st of July so would it be possible for me to make a GBAX 2007 edition of my game? Then hand in on the 7th July? With improvements on the GBAX 2007 version of course!

Providing its significantly updated since the previous release it should be fine. This is to encourage development of software and not just re-releasing the same software for multiple competitions.
