Matt Groening's The Simpsons is heading back to the videogame world in the fantastically titled The Simpsons Game (well, that is a working title to be fair).

The game's being developed by EA's Redwood Shores Studio for PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and DS, and is described as an action-comedy in which "Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa use exciting, all-new powers to save the world from rising chaos."

All the show's voice actors will be reprising their roles in polygon form, and the show's writers have penned the storyline for the game - not a lot has been revealed about the plot, although EA has said that players will journey through all of Springfield and "vast worlds beyond".

We'll also be fighting villains and "parodies of multiple popular games".

Scot Amos, executive producer of the project, has said EA's goal "is to create the most original game ever, which is a lofty goal and only possible given the close collaboration with The Simpsons creative team".

The Simpsons Game - or whatever it's eventually called - is due out at the end of the year.

My advice to Matt Groening, The Simpsons is dead, accept it and replace it with Futurama.
