Hi there,

before starting out and looking for all the info by mysefl, i wanted to check if someone could give me a short heads up to the psp firmware/loader/homebrew status.

its been some time since i ran homebrew on my psp and my psp is still on 1.5 ... makes it kind of annoying to run new games from umd by routing thru a firmware loader.

anybody willing to help?

Just get custom firmware. It lets you play homebrew, along with the funcionality of 3.40.

Yeah, Custom Firmware is where it's at, my friend.

The latest version is 3.40 OE-a (Open Edition rev a) which combines elements of the 1.5 kernel, the 3.40 kernel into one firmware. It also has a recovery mode for recovering from partial bricks.

Oh, yes, and Playstation emulation. Nearly forgot.

Get the installer from : http://www.dark-alex.org/ and then read around the rest of the site to see what others have been doing with it.

I just got a used PSP. It has 3.40 on it. I do not want to brick it, What do I need to do to install 3.40 OE-A on it?

Also, can I play games from the memory stick?
I have a 4gig stick.

Thanks in advance for any help.
