I'm planning on buying a PSP in a few weeks. My friend has a used one running a homebrew capable firmware, but its not in very good condition.

If I bought a new one is there a good chance that I will be able to run homebrew/upgrade to an OE firmware, or should I not risk it and take the used one?

The used one will be cheaper and already set up for you plus if you buy a new one chances are you won't get a firmware remotely able to run homebrew. So If your friend will give you a reasonable price get it for sure.

Wait! The other day I returned a brick to bestbuy in return for a 2.71. If the barcode has a K, it has 2.71, J, it has 2.80. Each downgradable without gta.
