JMD has just released his port of Win-CPC called DreamCPC.
This is a fullspeed Amstrad CPC emulator for the Dreamcast.

Some of the features are:

Fullspeed with sound
Support for the Dreamcast Keyboard
Reads from amstrad disk format and zips
Has auto program loading
Screen Adjust
Keys mappable
Includes two games for the system
Works in Chankast

The emulator's menu has 5 icons:
- The Disk Icon opens games and launches them
- The Keyboard Icon opens up a key mapper
- The Dreamcast Icon opens options
- The Question Mark Icon opens info and has the reset in it
- The Joystick Icon returns to the emulator

The official download is HERE (http://www.rockandaluz.com/~dciberia/modules/mydownloads/) but requires that you join the site.

I have mirrored it Here (http://www.screamcast.net/publicdownloads/DreamCPCalpha.zip) temporarily. As soon as anyone can provide a mirror (dcemulation or dcemu.co.uk) I will take this down.

Two more mirrors: http://www.emuhelp.com/index.php?op=mod&module=emupages&file=index&modop=viewpage&emuid=306

Hawk posted some info about the CPC over at DCEmulation.com:

The CPC was Amstrads answer to the Spectrum & C64, unlike the Speccy & like the C64 it had full colour for games so no colour clash (shame as I liked that about the Speccy). It came in either 64k or 128k versions & had a built in disk drive, 3 inch type later found on the Spectrum +3 as Amstrad had taken over sinclair by then, or tape drive (depending on which model you got). Theres a bit more info on this old 8bit computer here (http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=111) not sure about the best games on it as I had a Spectrum myself but CPC game reviews (http://www.cpcgamereviews.com/) should give a good idea of what to try

It is really nice to see this emu finally released :) Good work JMD!!

I didn't test it yet, so let me ask about sound issues. Have you fixed them completely? And what about sound output quality?

I'm in love with this thing. Great release, thank you.
Anyway: Are there any plans for future releases including the possibility to change cpc disks without having to reboot the dreamcast. This is a bit annoying. Or am i missing something there? And: What about savestates? I used to write my first basic-programs on a cpc, it would bei fantastic writing them again and saving them on my vmu...
I've been waiting ages for cpc emulation, so happy it finally came true!

Hi

Thanks for your support. I'm happy you like the emu.
Thanks to Fackue and M@jk for the SBI.

I fix my pbm by hack KOS 1.2 and use a shorter buffer. I also re-write the sound generation to be faster and now the sound is good enough without any delay.

change cpc disks without having to reboot the dreamcast

Yes you can : Open a disk and don't choose any CPC file. Go directly on the joystick icon : you're back at the emulation with the new disk without reboot.

What about savestates

Should be added in a future version but now, I take a break ... Have to finish Star Wars KOTOR :D

i tried burning it. I wanted to know if there was a Max file limit that anyone know about, due to the fact that i burnt a disk of it with 1000+ zips, is there such a thing that anyone know of, because when i try to access the folder where they are it comes up empty. please help, i really want to play with this thing. Thanks. also, i've had a tough time a little bit ago, after i tried to find my way around the folders, and it locked up. thanks.

Congrat Again JMD, the Dream-CPC runs CP/M perfectly , allowing to run commercial and professional applications and such. Also supports disk swapp and is entirelly compatible. Great Download the video at http://www.rockandaluz.com/~dciberia/modules/news/article.php?storyid=101

Great emu - finally got some blanks to try it however I had the problem with the directories coming up blank including one which only had 64 .dsk files! although there were a few .sna and .txt files in there too which may have mucked things up. Another directory had 1536 .dsk files and reset the DC outright when I entered it!
Unfortunately I had the same problem of navigating the directories - maybe a "parent" or "back" button in the next version if poss!
But I am still a happy Coagulus despite the rebooting!
