I would love to hear from shops and all v1 or v1.5 owners to see if theres a way via a serial number on the PSP or other method of easily identyfying v1.0 PSP consoles.

the only way i know of is if you put the console on, go to the main menu and select the option 'System Information' or 'Firmware Version' or something like that, it tells you there ...

Not useful if buying used because one might have upgraded the firmware.

Truely the only good method is to boot it and check the bios screen for ver number.

1001 = 1.5 1000 = 1.0
but like the second post above this says, they might have upgraded it, so this is kinda useless

Yea, on the bottom of the psp there is a barcode. if it ends in 1000 it could still be a v 1.0 but if its 1001 then its definatly 1.5 or higher , but theres no way to tell apart from checking the system information.

I have been hearing of alot of people that upgrade their firmware and selling their psp's on ebay and stuff after making that mistake. be carefull when you purchase psp's on online auctions, even if they show that 1000.
