Too be honest i like neither better than eachother.

But if you are talking more as in the Format wars, blu-ray will win.

Bigger and PS3 compatable ;)

I voted DVD because it's still a great format and is incredibly cheap now. I'm hoping that instead of moving to Blu-Ray/HD DVD that DVDs will use high def Divx as the format. Think about it, you would just need to buy a new player (but it would be cheaper than Blu-Ray/HD DVD) and we could still use good ol cheap DVD 9s.

As for Blu-Ray/HD DVD, I think HD DVD is better since standalone players are only $300 compared to $800 for Blu-Ray. But I do think Blu-Ray could win the format "war" (assuming either format does win the war.)

Personally I still buy DVDs, and will continue to buy them until I can no longer find them for sale. Not like I ever watch them from the disc anyways, they end up as divx files real quick, have more hard drive space than room to tote around movies with me.

I have seen Blu-Ray and HD-DVD in action, no much difference.

Just that BR has better compatibility, and PS3 owns

That is true mainly due to the ps3, most people don't want a new format already, but if you own a ps3 you're going to spend more on HD things. Remember though, Wal-Mart and porn are both going for HD-DVD, how can you go against that?

Not the most clear post :p, Sony is getting sued, that is true. If they lose, they'll probably just get bitch-slapped in the face for money, I don't know if companies will be more reluctant to go for a format that already broke patent laws. (Probably won't make a difference though) When I want to spend money to get HD movies, even though right now DVD is still fine, I will just buy an HD add on for my 360

Nah they'll just think up another gimmick for the PS3.

Besides, the gap between HD-DVDV and blu-ray is getting smaller everyday. Studio support? Why not.

If the studios want to be really safe, just go for both

For now I vote 'DVD' becase there now cheap and have a good storage 4.7 GB worth of DVD costing only round 50 Pence compared to an 2 GB iPod around £70. But when Blue Ray DVD or the other drops in price then I will start using them.

Blu-Ray discs are being worked on that are 8-layered, 25GB a layer, giving a massive 200GB space.
