Nintendo is to discontinue two of the earliest available colours of the original 3DS in Japan 'soon'.
Announced via Nintendo of Japan, via Siliconera (http://www.siliconera.com/2013/09/13/nintendo-to-discontinue-original-nintendo-3ds-launch-colour-in-japan/) translations, the firm will soon cut off production of the 'Cosmo Black' and 'Ice White' versions of the portable, which were among the first colours available in the region.

Nintendo recently announced the Nintendo 2DS (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/426803/nintendo-2ds-is-the-new-affordable-3ds-model/), a new "more affordable" Nintendo 3DS model set for release in October.
The redesigned handheld - made to cater to younger gamers - will play the entire library of cartridge and digital 3DS and DS titles, but "only in 2D".
