According to a recent article in Famitsu magazine downloading classic Nintendo games onto your Revolution will not be free. Boss man, Satoru Itawa, explicitly stated the fact, but added that some games might be available for free download as a bonus for purchasing a Revolution title or through special promotions. Packaging retro titles with current games is nothing new, but perhaps Nintendo will put a revolutionary spin on the concept—say, buy Mario Revolution (not a real title) and download any three Mario-related games from the past.

No word yet on the cost of downloads, or whether or not pricing will vary based on generation. We’ll keep you posted.

thats still not that bad...

i think it would be cool if they had some kind of point system.. if you beat certain games you get points or somthing and can trade them for purchase.

Don't expect them all to be free but some would be nice, this is how they aregoing to pay for the online service, if the software allows for online play of these games just like the PC emu's do then people are going to go nuts over this.

They've announced that most of the 221 first party titles will be free, however the more popular the title the more likely they'll charge for it.

Third party publishers can charge what they want for their old games on download.

Has no one thought about the fact that you could download a game copy to SD card, then upload to a site for others to download and play on revolution? im sure it wouldnt be that easy but if ninty allow you to save your downloaded games to the SD cards then this will happen.

they could do some online validation to do with your online account and serial number of the console, when you play a game it will check to see if everything matched, if not then it won't play. I'm sure Nintendo have taken that into account.
