Hello there, DCEmu, tommorow I should be getting a PS3 from stores, however I've heard that European PS3's have a there PS2 chip removed or something like that and I need to know if the following PS2 game's run on a European PS3:

Victorious Boxers 2
Final Fantasy 12
Soul Calibur 3

If anybody has tryed them on there PAL PS3, tell Malk and get a free cookie :)

I havn't heard/read anything that says PS2 games wont run on euro PS3's so I think they do run

I've heard some games run but the compatibilty of ps2 games is not as large without the chip

Buy an NTSC-U PlayStation 3. I don't know if these games worl on the PAL console, but a lot of games will not run.

All of the PS2 games ive thrown at my PS3 have worked flawlessly, and all upscaled. Not one has given me an uncompatible message.
Chances are they'll work, but sorry, cant tell you for your specific games

that list is out of date so there are some improvments with 1.80

FF XII is meant to have some graphical issues but still playable...i havnt tried it though, i dont want to buy the mem card adapter and i dont want to lose 60 hours of play[even though im only at the stillshrine of m?...license board complete however...]

what games are you buying?

no, no updates was made to the compatibilty list for 1.80 because they only done the upscaler.

no updates to the ps1/2 software was made, hence why they havent had a list update.

Hmm, I think I'm going to get Resistance and perhaps MotorStorm, waiting for other nice games to be released

there is definately increased compatibility... mostly fixing games which were broken with 1.60 and 1.70.

i think there was no announcment for the sake of not highlighting previous mistakes.

MGS3 ran fine before 1.70 now its off the list...but in 1.80 it works great.
