Aight guys...it looks like those dang japs released firware version 1.52 today.
What ware we going to do?

Looks like more security fixes (awwww... :( ) and support for music umds...

if sony are still updating, it means there are still ways in to the psp, so if you update youre putting yourslef further from homebrew

the more patches they release, also the better idea people have of their encryption method.. i dont feel like explaining that either.

is it pssible to read the firmware of 1.52 and 1.50 and see what has changed so that area can be looked at more thorouhly?

Heh, I'm not upgrading. Hopefully they don't release a security patch and a good update, then I'd be tempted to upgrade.

if you really think about it the upgrades ARE good, aside from not being able to play homebrew. They are good to have. People are treating it like its a bad thing. I mean without a decent one our PSP would be prone to virus.heh im writing this with psp

and they can, the 1.0 firmware is a weak enough to let someone run an eboot which could brick the psp.

Sorry about this but i am a n00b to the PSP, how would i actually update my PSP, it is the Jap one at version 1.5 and was wondering how i do it. If it is something to do with having to be at a wireless access point well i cant update then cheers for any help

I believe you can in fact do it via usb... but im not sure how.

You can expect a 1.52 firmware release for the American PSP in the next couple of months. Hopefully, Sony will release a firmware upgrade with webbrowser or something that will make people upgrade.

- Download JP1.52 file here (http://dj01.psp.update.playstation.org/update/jp/2005_0608_b976783070c12c4ed81cc27785222491/EBOOT.PBP)
- Place it in your Memory StickPSPGAMEUPDATE folder
- Run it from your PSP Home menu

The only time I would bother to upgrade was if it was for something decent such as a web browser.
