Who said the N64 scene was dead?

As i'm sure many of you might of heard of the infamous mario 64 level editor that appeared on youtube well it just so happens that the public BETA has JUST been released! This is what VL-tone had to say at his blog

I would’ve needed another day... But since I was threatened an angry mob of fans I had to release it today :)

So... Documentation is not finished, I’m late for work, but you can now download Toad’s Tool 64 Beta v0.1 at:

http://homepage.mac.com/qubedstudios/ToadsTool64.htm

Want to know what it exactly it does? check out here:

it would be fantastic it seems the n64 scene isn't as dead as we first thought :)

edit: using the editor now, quite complicated but fairly easy to get going

oh btwi forgot to mention you need to use the rom extender on the site to edit the rom. and if people have problems i'll TRY and help. But if you're still having problems read the FAQ on vl-tone's blog

looks good, im just wondering if it will be possible to create your own tiles etc and then save it to run on Daedalus on PSP, surely there would be some fun to have with that.

Wraggster: Nice idea on the N64 page, keep us informed :)

0.2 released :).

What is the format of this ? Does it export as a single rom file so we can play it for example with daedalus ?

It edits the existing extended rom you have hopefully it will start saving ppf patches soon...oh and what do you mean 0.2 released? nothing about that on his blog O_o

parkermauney
June 22nd, 2007, 13:28
I'm assuming it exports z64 or v64 files. Maybe ips patches.

mesosade
June 22nd, 2007, 13:35
ips patches are to small for the extended rom (24mb) that's why only ppf patches would be used

This is really cool! If any of you heard of Lunar Magic, the Super Mario World editing tool, you should be quite pleased that someone took the time to break down and rebuild (it seems,) Super Mario 64. Great work! I'm your biggest fan! :P

i just tried this myself, the program is absolutely awesome! (I turned mario into luigi, but who hasn't already)

unfortunately you can't play it on daedelus r11 i just tried it with many variations of settings and none of them worked.

i'll contact strmnnrmn about playing extended roms if i get the chance. because that's what toad's tool uses

Darkfrost
June 23rd, 2007, 15:27
If I remember right, 'extending' a rom just put a load of blank space in it, so you can add/edit stuff.

I think you can also 'un-extend' them. Maybe that will let you play them?
