Compiz linux, HELP ME

Ok so i have this sweet little peice of work going on my computer now, on problem, my minimize and maximize and exit buttons have disapeared, can some one please help or direct me to help.

Isn't there a compiz control panel somewhere?

Check in /usr/bin for any apps named compiz-...

I'm sure you'll find it there.

I've never been able to use compiz or beryl because my pc is shit. :(

if i type ccsm in the terminal, i get the control panel, but i cant find anything about hiding the frames. I just hope i can find some one who had the same problem, but fixed it.

Ok sorry I meant to post this when you first posted this, I'm pretty sure this will fix it.... go to the Terminal and type this:



sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/backup_xorg.conf

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Always good to have a backup in case something goes wrong

After that look for a section that says [Screen]... Actually I will copy my entire xorg here and bold what should be added

(This is assuming you have a Nvidia card, but it might work for others too... I can't remember)

After that try to reload compiz, restart, or something similar, I actaully use the Emerald themer with compiz fusion to make it look the best, but thats optional lol, hope that helped... If not search around The Ubuntu Forums (www.ubuntuforums.org) always search before making a new thread though because chances are someone else has already had the problem

And for the themes and such I think you were looking for earlier try www.gnome-look.org

I was using Beryl, but Beryl and Compiz are joining together again under the name Compiz Fusion, which is what Im using

I added that little snippet, but nothing happened, maybe im missing somthing here, but i am running with a intel graphics card, so i dont know, and what about the little like docking windows, like in that video that you posted, what are those called ?

also when i put in that : su do cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/backup_xorg.conf it just asks for my password, then i put it in, and nothing happens, and whats this emerald thing, i couldnt find it in my system>preferences. Im also a noobish linux user, i just got fed up with windows again.

cool,yeah I heard about compiz and beryl joining.I didn't know there had been any releases.If your using the latest Subversion I would think things are buggy and easily broken.Also some things aren't that great on intel integrated from my experience.Go get a cheap nvidia 256, it's definetly worth it.That's what I'm running on and virtually no bugs...
I was having major probs with a supposedly supported ATI 9800, I follewed every tutorial to a T including editing my xorg.conf nothing worked.I get my nvidia plugged it in and after a few apt-gets I was rockin.

Well its kinda inside my laptop, and im not really one for screwing around in my 1000$ laptop, if it was like somthing i didnt buy my self, i would, but other wise, unless by some strange circumstance, i come into money, then i could pay some one to do it.

well what about those little docking things at the bottem of the screen, they look like the apple ones, i have no idea what to call them anymore. I kinda want one of those.
