Well I'm not saying StrmnNrmn has to just work on titles for R13 he will still continue his work on adding ME support and any other optimisations he has planned. This is just giving him perspective on which titles for compatability in R13 that we would like to see. Personally I want Diddy Kong Racing, mainly since it's a GREAT 1player game and since there is no multiplayer yet it would be nice to play.

Working on compatibility for one bloody game is like replacing the steering wheel or suspension to fix a car with flat tires.

If you're just looking for the simple solution, you won't discover anything more than it. By focusing on one game, that's all that will be dealt with and any other innovations like perhaps a feature that results in a larger percentile of working games will no longer be something probable.

Focus should be put on improving the application as a whole, not increasing compatibility with a few games.

I kinda hope he morely makes more optimization to get more games in genral to run faster. He statd he added no optimization in this release (that is the general optimization stuff). I kinda hope strom takes a page out of exophase and gpsp and release more general updates with little bit on big games so we get major optimization overall and litle bit more tweaking in one or two games per release. I just don;t want strom... to put optimize certain games to like 80% fullspeed like ssb and keep doing that and never really get games going in fullspeed mode cuz he's been bogged down working in xyz game trying to get that one game running faster. I look at this ssb and i;m like omg awesome trom is great. Only prob was that he had to focus a whole update to geth that one game running at the speed its at. Have a nice summer vacation strom. you deserve every sec of it. Lighter note. I voeted for mario kart lol. Doesn;t seem like he would have much to do to get that going pretty fast and I think he could get it going good in a really short time. If he got that to 30+ fps it would just about feel like its fullspeed. at the 18-20 we get now it seems pretty good but that little hump will get it going prefect.

We will never get any games like Conker to work full speed because of the ram limitations, Surely it would of been better to port UltraHLE, then we could of atleast have a chance of a decent emulator which could run Goldeneye and Super Mario perfectly.

1. StrmnNrmn was the original author of Daedalus, you'd think he'd rather use his own code base that he was familiar with, right?

2. As far as I can tell UltraHLE source code was never officially released. It was leaked but the code that was leaked was old/buggy and the developers wouldn't be too happy with someone using it for a major projfect like this.

3. All roms are cached so the PSP's lack of RAM isn't a limiting factor in getting games to run.

4. Your post would've made more sense if it was made around a year ago. There are plenty of games that run well with the last few releases.

Oh yeah, VOTE ZELDA! I'm tired of it crahing every time I enter the room with the slingshot. F-Zero would also be nice, you were able to start a death match race in R10 and it ran pretty fast (35-50 fps or so) but it mysteriously stopped loading at all with R11.

I think strmnrmn can improve at least one or two games (Like Super Smash Bros. and whatever wins this poll, perhaps) and that will be able to tide us over as he does work to improve overall compatability and graphical issues. If we have a few games working properly, there will be less pressure on him to release a new version, so it won't seem out of place if he returns two months later with a 10% speedup.

I voted for Diddy Kong Racing, but I'm pretty sure all the zelda fans out there are going to win. :(

Well, i think someone should make a totally unbiased poll, one that clearly isn't someone's favourites list. To have such a small amount of games to choose from is comical if nothing else, and i would assume very little help in the grand scheme of things.
Conkers Bad Fur Day would be a bad choice for a start (My personal favourite game on N64.) You only have to go back to the early days of pj64 when the cpu's of the day were a limiting factor. It required a much higher system requirement to run certain games (Conker/Perfect Dark anyone!?,) transfer that thinking to the already extremely limited hardware of the psp. Not sure that realistically we are going to see such games any time soon, or ever.

I would personally like to see more work to get a handful of games that are already running, full speed with sound. With some progress made in regards to using the ME.
Sorry if that doesn't sit well with your loaded poll Morgan! And i would have voted, but i can't see the option to have a copy of Diddy Kong Racing complete with console rammed up your arse. :p :D

I wouldn't say having a little more knowledge in something is "negativity". I would think of it more as a realistic aim, and for the majority too, and not just for myself. If you see this as negativity then i would read again what i said. So you mentioned that this was a list made up of the "most requested games", yet i have seen a greater number than that being mentioned numerous amounts of times throughout these very forums. But that wouldn't give Diddy Kong Racing a fair chance of making StrmnNrmn's todo list..Would it!?
And to say i don't appreciate StrmnNrmn's work is completely wrong, i have always been a great admirer of his work. And i believe he's got a good shot at making some of the more obvious roms run full speed with sound. And i have a genuine love for the n64 console and emulation in general, which is probably why i am a moderator on the Pj64 forum since 2001, and helped test a number of things. Well, I had fun testing out the new release of Daedalus with some of the ROMS that play pretty good. As always, its very remarkable to see N64 games being played on the PSP. However, with no games really playable at full speed with sound, you just fire up the EMU, test out different ROMS, and then the fun is over.

Definitely Zelda OOT would be my "favorite" game, but since Mario 64 already runs so well, I'd like to see that perfected with sound.

The progression I'd like to see is optimizations without breaking games. This may be a slower rate of progress but better overall. A part of me wishes that maybe just 1 or 2 games were fully playable with sound but I know that may not be the best way to go about this emulator.

Either way, Daedalus is certainly one of the most impressive emulation feats of PSP homebrew and I am thankful for the tremendous effort put into making it. Nintendo 64 on the PSP is fast becoming a reality that many had no idea would even be possible.

Listen Bodie these games that are on the list are games that people told me they wanted to see run on R13 when I announced the poll would be soon made. I made it clear that if you wanted your game on the list you have to request it, people requested games and I told them I would take the 10 games that were most wanted at where I asked. Please be my guest at finding the two threads where I asked people to request games. Now the thing is I didn't put SSB on the list because StrmnNrmn JUST worked on this game for R12 and I believe he would want some variety in his work. He also worked on Goldeneye for R12, the reason it's on the list though is because there wasn't extensive work on 007 like there was done on SSB. The progress on SSB is nearly complete as of R12 so I felt this game is fine as of now. Now to talk about your alligations about me beign biased to DKR. The game DKR was requested fairly in the previously talked about threads enough times to be put on the list, it's not on there because I like it. Just because I like DKR doesn't mean this poll is to just get what I want, it's so StrmnNrmn can actually see which games out of these 10 we would like to see worked on. Yes it's true that I like DKR and I would love to see it in the top 3 in this poll but that doesn't mean I can fix this poll or anything. It has gotten it's 8 respected votes as of now, and compared to the other games it's right up there with the rest, so please respect my decision. I did not come here to argue either but please respect others and their votes, I said this in the opening post for a reason. I would personally go with Paper Mario as a compatibility improvement. It's probably not a simple task, but if Strmnnrmn could just get it to run past the file name input portion, the game would run fairly well. My vote has to be Paper Mario. Starogre let me answer some questions for you, first you might want to look over your last 2 posts you just made. First off if you do look which looks like you didn't, Conker is on the list. Donkey Kong was requested but not as much as the others that's why it didn't make the list. Goldeneye is a different case, I agree that this game with no multiplayer isn't that great, but the reason it's on the list is because someone thought it was important. That person is StrmnNrmn, he took the time to get that game working for R12 so whatever reason he worked on 007 for last release will be the same reason why it's worked on in the future release. Lastly I don't like how you came at DarthPaul, one of the reasons why his opinion is looked at as higher then yours is because he's a DCEmu Old Pro while you and your boy Bodie are DCEmu Rookies and Newbies.

Personally I LOVE daedalus Strmn is doing a GREAT job, anyone who has trash to talk about why is Daedalus getting used, well to them I say get out there and code us some better competition if you can. I voted Zelda MM, because I have never played it, and would love to, and I can't on my 64 I don't have an expansion pack, so I have a useless cart a friend gave me. Yeah but Diddy Kong Racing is a small fix for a great 1 player game that has virtually NO CONTROLLER problems since you only used a little amount of buttons. Also for the future the multiplayer is great, but doesn't look good at all right now, I wish it got more votes.

2. As far as I can tell UltraHLE source code was never officially released. It was leaked but the code that was leaked was old/buggy and the developers wouldn't be too happy with someone using it for a major projfect like this.

3. All roms are cached so the PSP's lack of RAM isn't a limiting factor in getting games to run.

Oh you don't need a coder to do that, just find a save format converter online and you can do it yourself, not too hard.

Strmmnn should work on getting Majora's Mask running properly. It already runs much faster than Ocarina of Time, and since they both suffer from many of the same dynarec problems, it's likely he could fix both of them at once.

Afterwards, he could focus more on speed (such as finally implementing ME), since getting those two games running (in addition to already having Mario 64 and Super Smash Bros. running decently) would satisfy many people's desire for compatibility, methinks, at least until some more speed issues have been addressed.

I was talking about running DKR... DKR was ported to the DS and it runs flawlessly, something that the PSP probably won't ever accomplish, or at least not for a long time. I was talking to Captain Morgan anyway, he's the one that's obsessed with DKR.

Sorry for the double post but did anyone else notice the text in Mario Kart 64 being messed up in R12. Your display during a race is what I'm talking about, like the stop-watch time font is messed up and so are the dots that indicate where everyone is on the little map on the bottom right. By messed up I mean they have square blocks behind the text that are different colors, this issue wasn't in previous version just so you know StrmnNrmn.

Well the plan for this poll was to get the 3 titles that were selected (zelda, goldeneye, and dkr) working at a much better level then they were in R12, these 3 titles are planned on being worked on for R13.

No not on this site, I don't why people are voting, and about the poll closing people stop being stupid and READ. Look in my previous posts about 3 days before the 7th I said the poll would be closing on the 7th at the stroke of midnight. The poll ended at that point and if you didn't get a chance to vote your game up I'm sorry but your the idiot that had the time but didn't use it. The top 3 have been decided so stop talking about the other titles, maybe in the future we can do another poll but until then stop being a bunch of bitches.

Some of them do look blurry I swear but when they're tiny on Daedalus you don't notice it nearly as much I promise you.

Its now Zelda / Goldeneye and Paper Mario which are great games.. Like everyone says, if you want DKR so badly, get a DS. Technically this poll still rolls on, its not like you dont know how to close it yourself, I think people are getting suspicious of you. Hopefully a Mod will check to see how many accounts you have made to generate enough votes for DKR. (If I remember correctly its a bannable offense)

That guy went into 12+ threads and copy/pasted the same message, then after I yelled at him for spam he copy/pasted the same I'm sorry no more spam message in 10+ topics. I'm sorry but I would never want to gain respect from that troll. Wally I thought we were friends I don't know why you would ask of allogations against me, the poll was scheduled to end after 10days and that's exactly what happened. The poll was closed on the stroke of midnight on the 7th and I seriously don't know how to close the poll, if so I would have, and I have tried and couldn't see that option for the poll. Anyway I hope you can take back your remarks Wally and we can be cool again but I don't know why you would raise these allogations on me, I did talk at a DKR fansite and told them about the poll but I think it only turned out like 10 votes, I didn't do anything wrong. The poll has ended and I'm not sure why people keep voting and I'm not sure why you people argue with the poll's closing date. The closing date was announced 3 days prior to the 7th and it was scheduled from the beginning to be a 10day poll. Maybe I can hold another poll for a later release with StrmnNrmn's permission. I don't like DKR on the DS because it's not the original so it's not the same and why wouldn't you want a DKR PSP vs DS battle. Anyway good luck with your poll Wally, I liked the results of your poll and I hope StrmnNrmn updates soon to talk about how our polls will effect R13.
