Nintendo is to carry out extended Wii U and 3DS maintenance today, the company has confirmed.
It's unclear if this is in any way linked to tomorrow's Nintendo Direct broadcast, but online services for both platforms will be affected during the maintenance period.

Hosted by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata, it will provide updates on Wii U and 3DS games launching this year.
