GPS via Bluetooth?

So basically the title says it all. I have a GPS device that can run from bluetooth, and I have a bluetooth dongle. Is there any way that I can mod the dongle to fit the psp then just transmit the GPS to it? I saw something about bluetooth support but couldn't find any real info on the subject.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What kind of bluetooth dongle are you talking about? If it is a simple USB/Bluetooth dongle, it won't work due to both being a device and not host... There were several topics on this already.

If it's a Bluetooth dongle specifically for the PSP, than we need more info, model etc... :)

It HAS a headset connector so if we can mod Mapthis that it uses it to transfer commands/data it would be WONDERFUL :)

Maybe i'm cheering too soon because it doesn't have the remote connector.

I see that only the pins 2 and 6 are used for transferring GPS data. So in theory the Ipod feature i posted can work onto the psp.

Unfortunately this will not work. All serial communications with the GPS devices ( the non-290 ones ) go through the remote control.
( Oh, and if you thought that we could modulate the audio signal to encode data signals on it, unfortunately the headphone is a one way - as in output only - device, so while theoretically we could control an external device with a translation circuit, we wouldn't be able to receive data... )

Have you checked if these 2 (pair) pins map on to the outside 2 (4) pins on the PSP remote and not the inside ones? If yes, there is a chance, when it comes to connectivity on the PSP's side.

Do you have a wiring diagram for that Logitech device?

No, it's just a standard linksys bluetooth dongle. I was just hoping that I could plug it into the usb and have it think that it is the psp290.

See I thought that it might be possible because on deniska's main page there is a feature about the holux and it says "Compatible with Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) completely."

Why would this even be mentioned if there isn't a way?

I understand the iPod bluetooth adapter is for headphone (sound) so it is not possible to adapter it to work with PSP for the purpose of connecting a bluetooth GPS.

Life is a bit more complicated than that in the field of electric engineering...

First of all, bluetooth dongles are usually USB devices, which means they are to be connected to a USB Host... The PSP is also a USB device ( as far as we know ), thus the 2 can not be connected directly... more here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

The Holux indeed has a BlueTooth SPP interface, which lets you to communicate with an other designated and paired bluetooth compatible device - like a computer - ( with an implemented bluetooth software stack ).

So, yes, theoretically it possible to make a device, but none exists currently as far as I know. If we go the USB way, the device sitting on top of the PSP has to be specially designed ( and have a USB Host Chip ) to translate the bluetooth signals to USB. And, somebody has to write the bluetooth software stack as well... Quite a lot of work...

Just for stereo Audio , but wouldn't be able to receive data! it dosen't work .............
